Setting up FTP Accounts

Allow other people to transfer files to your web space for you without giving them the main account password. You can also restrict the area of the web site that they have access to.

  1. Type www dot + yourdomain/cpanel into your web browser and then enter username and password when requested to access your control panel.

                                                 eg: www.yourdomain.com/cpanel

  1. In your control panel, click the FTP Manager Icon.

 

  1. Click the FTP Accounts link.

 

  1. Now click the Add FTP Account link.

 

  1. Enter necessary details and click the Create button.

Note: In the directory text box a folder will automatically be created for fred when you type fred into the Login: text box. You may wish to select this and delete it if you would like to give Fred full access to the site. You may also wish to enter a directory path and limit fred to one area of you web site.

 

  1. A confirmation screen will appear. Click Go Back link.

 

  1. Use FTP Account Maintenance screen to change password or to delete account. Just click to Delete or Change Pass links depending on what you wish to do.
